COATINGS
Temati has an extensive range of vapour control and vapour permeable (breathable) coatings and mastics. These Foster® coatings are used for finishing insulation on hot and cryogenic installations, as well as for installations at ambient temperature. As an exclusive Foster® distributor, we are able to provide a sophisticated total package. To provide solutions to all insulation challenges, like corrosion under insulation (CUI), we also supply a selection of other coatings and mastics.
Coatings
Industrial coatings for cold/cryogenic insulation systems are used as an effective vapour barrier over various types of insulation. For hot insulation systems, Temati supplies breathable coatings that allow moisture to evaporate from the insulation.
Applied in various industries
The range of Foster® mastics and coatings includes water-, solvent- and bitumen-based coatings. Various industrial coatings can be supplied in hand/trowel and airless spray versions. The Foster® product range is tested, approved and prescribed worldwide in diverse markets:
- The industrial coatings for cold/cryogenic plants are used in the (petro-)chemical industry, shipbuilding and offshore, among others.
- Our professional coatings for ambient temperature applications are used particularly in construction, HVAC and offshore.
- The range of Foster® mastics for hot installations are used in construction, industry and shipbuilding, among others.
Industrial coatings for cold/cryogenic systems
Coatings for cryogenic and cold insulation systems have vapour control properties and are suitable for outdoor applications due to their weather resistance. For example, Foster® Vapor Safe™ and Foster® Monolar mastics can be used for tanks, pipes, and vessels in cold/cryogenic insulation systems and ambient temperature insulation systems.
Foster® Monolar mastics (60-90 and 60-91) and Foster Monolar II Mastics (60-38 and 60-39) are the recommended finishes for cold insulation systems. The coatings in the Monolar product series are characterized by excellent chemical resistance, flexibility and long-term color retention. An extremely strong vapour barrier finish that can be used outdoors without any problems.
Another industrial coating with excellent weather and fire resistance is Foster® 65-05. This coating is ideally suited as a surface coating for cold insulation systems. It can also be used on heated pipes, vessels and equipment with varying temperatures to prevent vapour from entering the insulation during inactive periods.
Another surface coating is Foster® 60-25. With its low vapour permeance, it is an ideal choice for outdoor applications in cold insulation systems. This Foster® mastic has very good aging resistance; even with continuous contact with groundwater and common soil acids. This makes Foster 60-25 C.I. Mastic the recommended product for the durable finish of insulated soil pipes.
Industrial coatings for air ducts and ambient temperature systems
Foster® offers several industrial coatings for ambient temperature systems and air ducts, each with its own specific applications. For example Foster® 36-10 can be used with various forms of thermal insulation, including PUR, PIR, mineral fiber and closed-cell elastomers. This coating, called Weatherite™ Mastic, forms a weather-resistant barrier that can be used both indoors and outdoors.
For finishing encapsulated asbestos-containing materials (ACM) such as asbestos insulation and asbestos cement, Foster® 32-80 mastic is an excellent choice. As a finish for encapsulated ACM in exterior applications, Fireflex 30-52 is the preferred product.
Industrial coatings for hot systems
Foster® offers a wide range of coatings for hot insulation systems. For example, the Foster® 31-31 Insulfas coating is ideal for insulated ventilation ducts, water pipes and can also serve as a finish coat for canvas and glass cloth. It provides moisture protection and acts as a sealing coating.
Specially developed for high-temperature stainless steel pipes and equipment is Foster® Heat Resistant Coating 57-73. This coating effectively prevents stress corrosion cracking and has temperature resistance up to 649°C (temporary) and 538°C (permanent).
Foster® 30-60 has high thermal conductivity properties that improve the efficiency of both electrical and steam tracing. This industrial coating is suitable for both heating and cooling systems.
Foster® Coating Calculation Tool
To calculate how much Foster® coating you need, use the Foster® coating calculator tool. In a few steps, you will know the amount of a specific coating or mastic needed for the surface.
